Two 2-hour classes
Instructor: Kristen Bucci
Skill level: Intermediate Knit
Mondays, 6:00pm – 8:00pm, on:
Class 1: October 3
Class 2: October 17
NEW TECHNIQUES! With the exception that we will use Magic Loop, this class does NOT repeat techniques/concepts from our other sock classes! New toes, new heels, new bind-off!
You’ve learned how to knit a sock using the Magic Loop technique in our Beginning Sock class. You’ve also learned how to knit a sock starting at the toe, and to work a short-row wrap & turn heel, in our Toe-Up Sock class.
Now it’s time to take it all a STEP further and KICK up your sock knitting to a new level by knitting socks TWO-AT-A-TIME (TAAT)!
In addition to learning the tips for knitting socks TAAT, you will also gain a deeper understanding of the anatomy of your foot (or the foot for which you are knitting) and how to make socks that FIT beautifully. You will also learn ALL NEW techniques for cast on, heels, and bind-off.
Ideally, you have finished a sock and are comfortable with/able to execute on your own:
- knitting a sock with the Magic Loop technique
- basic increases and decreases
- Judy’s Magic cast on
- working a short row heel
Supplies needed:
- Yarn: At least 100 grams fingering-weight; please wind yarn into 2 equal balls, approximately 50 grams each
- Needles: addi Sock Rockets, 40″ circular in size US 1 or US 2
- Tapestry needle
- Optional, but helpful: SMALL stitch markers to aid in marking pattern motifs
Suggested yarns are Malabrigo Sock, Madelinetosh Sock or Madelinetosh Twist. Note on color choice: This pattern works best in a subtle color scheme, either semisolid or only discretely contrasting. Additionally, as usual when working new sock techniques, lighter colors make it easier to see those tiny stitches!
There is no pre-work for this class, but there is homework between classes, so please plan accordingly.
