This beautiful pillow cover is a great introduction to cable knitting and suitable for knitters who are comfortable with cast on, knit, and purl stitches. To advance your knitting knowledge, you’ll learn the following helpful knitting techniques in class:
* Starting flat, then casting on at the end of a row so you can join in the round.
* Adding buttonholes by binding off and casting back on mid-row.
* Bind off with Kitchener Stitch.
* Sewing on buttons.
Class is divided into two sessions, with homework prior to the first class and in-between classes.
Supplies needed:
* 400 yards of worsted-weight yarn
* 24″ circular needles in size US 8 (or size needed to obtain gauge)
* At least 14 stitch markers (one in a different color or style than the others
* Tapestry needle
* 14″ x 14″ pillow form
* 1/2″ buttons (4)
* Thread for sewing on buttons
Homework prior to first class:
Cast on 56 stitches. (K1, P1), repeat across for three rows.
To check your gauge:
CO 24. Work for 22 rows in K1, P1 ribbing. The resulting swatch should be a 4″x4″ square when slightly stretched (not blocked, just lightly pulled so you can see the purl bumps but they are still smaller than the knits).
