Learn How to Make Your Own Sami Bracelet!
SAMI BRACELET WORKSHOPS

The Sami bracelet underground trend has hit central Ohio! Artist/painter Anita Miller has traveled to Northern Minnesota to learn this traditional Scandinavian craft which uses reindeer hide, antler, and pewter thread to make the beautiful bracelets that are seen on Hollywood celebrities, and now on the very fashionable wrists of many Knitting Temptations’ staffers and customers!
Instructor: Anita Miller

In this one-day class, you will make your own Sami bracelet with the traditional materials from Sweden. Anita will teach the basic braid (pictured above) and the bracelet construction techniques. You will have several leather color choices and you make it all by hand! Once you have completed the basic class, you will be ready to take the intermediate class to learn more complex braiding techniques.
Basic experience with needle and thread (hand sewing) is necessary. It is recommended that you bring a thimble and a pair of small needle-nose or jewelry pliers.
There will be a break for lunch for participants to go out or bring a sack lunch.
Saturday, May 24, 10:00am – 3:00pm OR

You learned the basics – now it’s time to really get creative! Once again, you will have options on colors of reindeer hide and this time, you will build on your knowledge from the beginning class to learn new techniques such as twists, stacked 4-part braids, and leather inserts. You can use these techniques to design a more complex bracelet that you will construct and sew on your own.

Do you know of any classes in the Milwaukee area?
Laurie,
We do not know of instructors/classes outside of our area. We had a local artist who knew the traditional Sami methods and had materials for our students to use. Good luck in your search.
