Knit Purl Hunter KAL

October 2013 Colorwork Cowl

The October KAL is a beautiful, colorwork infinity cowl – a seasonal must-have worn fashionably doubled. Get a jump on your holiday knitting! The project features 4 colors of Kenzie by HiKoo, an exciting new tweed yarn from New Zealand: 160 yards/50g each; 50% New Zealand merino, 25% nylon, 10% angora, 10% alpaca, 5% silk noils.

Each pattern segment, revealed one at a time on the Thursdays in October, is full of stitches and techniques designed to grow your knitting skills.  Every skill is supported with online video tutorials at It’s like having a knitting tutor 24/7!

Supplies needed include:

  • For small cowl up to 32″: 4 total skeins (1 each of 4 different colors)
  • For large infinity cowl up to 60-68″: 8 total skeins (2 each of 4 different colors)
  • US 7, 16″ circular needle
  • US 8, 16″ circular needle
  • Two removable stitch markers

Michelle’s favorite sample is worked to 64″ in the featured colors pictured below: #1000 Pavlova (natural), #1006 Kumara (orange), #1007 Kiwifruit (green) and #1009 Oceania (navy).

Gauge is approximately 20 stitches = 4″ in stockinette.
