Have you been thinking about learning stranded knitting (the technique used in Fair Isle knitting)? This traditional technique is used to create intricate-looking patterns with multiple colors. The lovely Dark Shines cowl, designed by Amy Gleixner, is a sampler of classic Fair Isle motifs. It starts out with short floats (color changes) and then works up to longer ones, making it a perfect project for those new to stranded knitting!
This class will focus on the basics of two-color, stranded knitting with two hands, knitting in the round, and chart reading.
Supplies needed:
- Yarn: 165 yards Main Color (MC) and 110 yards Contrasting Color (CC) worsted weight yarn
- Needles: 24″ circular in size US 7 and 24″ circular in size US 5
- Tapestry needle
- Stitch markers
Shop sample knit with Rowan Pure Wool Worsted, one ball of each in two colors.
